Ethical Values

Dewhirst strives to achieve exceptional standards in Social, Ethical and Health & Safety Compliance at every stage of the production process and throughout the supply chain. We have always endeavoured to set the benchmark for employment, community and environmental initiatives that are now being widely accepted by the industry as standard practice.

We work through wholly owned and third party factories to ensure that Compliance standards are clearly understood and sustained throughout our global network. Annual audits, supporting customers initiatives, and regular on-site visits with a Compliance focus, ensure the reputation of your brand.

Protecting the world in which we work

We ensure strict compliance to Equal opportunities, and that the highest possible Health & Safety standards are maintained in the factories. We also work to support local employment and the community, whenever possible, developing local family-run businesses.

Conflict Minerals / Conflict Mineral

“We will ensure that all of product, components or parts do not contain any Conflict Minerals such as:
Gold, Tin, Tungsten, Tantalum (collectively, “3TGs” or “conflict minerals”), from locations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (“DRC”), or an adjoining country which are: Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, the Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia (collectively, the “Covered Countries”).

Green & Environmental Initiatives

Through a range of initiatives and use of carbon friendly solutions we aim to reduce our impact on the environment and work pro-actively with customers and suppliers to reduce waste, promote recycling and minimise landfill.

  • Compressed gas boilers
  • Water treatment & purification plant to protect local rivers
  • High efficiency lighting
  • Evaporative cooling units using one tenth the power of a conventional air con unit

Community

Establishing a presence in the local community is important to Dewhirst. We can clearly see the benefit of being involved whether that be with our employees, their families or the community in general. We believe in community events that everyone can enjoy. Whether it’s hosting a day of reading for parents and kids, or helping budding artists create their next masterpiece, we can achieve great things when we work (and play) together.

As a Corporate Citizen Dewhirst believes Doing the Right Thing drives the Business Sustainability. Our preliminary responsibility is to respect the Law of the Land & stand for International Labour Standards.
Accreditations offer systematic management approach to our Strategic Business Units covering Social Compliance, Occupational Health & Safety, C-TPAT, Environmental Sustainability & Process Standardization.

Healthcare

We provide each worker with free nutritional meals and medical support. Via community health clinics we have pioneered projects to cut rates of tuberculosis and to reduce infant mortality through education and support for female employees.

We have an in depth understanding of local cultures and environments giving us the abilities to manage seasonal impacts on health. We have free eye clinics and have provided free cataract operations for parents of our workers.

Also provide gynecological care for female workers. Once per year we provide free dental care for our workers as well as giving free eye tests.
